Since the year 2000, I have been involved in community work
on almost a daily basis. I have served as a volunteer in many individual and institutional
capacities.
I founded and have coordinated Uhai Welfare Group for the past 12 years.
Due to my dedication towards provision of care and protection to children, the
government of Kenya nominated me as a Volunteer Children Officer in 2004 and
has continued to renew the nomination after every 3 years since then.
I have contributed in the fight against HIV/AIDS at the local and National levels including helping formulate HIV/AIDS National policies and the HIV/AIDS Strategic plan.

I was incorporated by UNESCO to help in drawing up the Kenya National Education Policy on HIV/AIDS in the year 2011.
I run a help desk at Uhai office where I provide free counseling to children, youths and other community members.
As a volunteer I have been training many community groups, including youth and women groups on group dynamics, HIV/AIDS and lifeskills. I also do it in local schools where I occasionally visit to offer motivational talks.
All
these and many other undertakings for my community, have been on
voluntary basis without
any financial benefit whatsoever. However, I am now an elected
representative of Karuri Ward in Kiambu since 2013. I attribute my
success in the election to the work I had been doing for the less
fortunate.
My services to the less fortunate, the
children and youth will now redouble since now I am acting from a point of authority. .
